Our client here is a bright, energetic business owner who needed a space to unwind after her long days. She asked for casual sophistication, emphasis on the casual. She had a couple of pieces of heavily distressed furniture and a gorgeous stone fireplace, but she's a pretty contemporary gal so we gave her a modern farmhouse look. We started with neutral walls...you know, except for that really really red one (aren't we devilish?). We added more neutrals with a fabulous textured rug, upholstered pieces and rich wood stains, then we added the fun! Pops of red are repeated throughout the space, but don't overwhelm – the varying texture remains the real star of the room and creates a bit of sophistication in a rustic place.
