Cedar Lake Addition & Kitchen Remodel

“We are table people”. This was the space this family wanted to gain out of the kitchen and mudroom remodel, the original dinette area was in a dead end off of the kitchen and too difficult to maneuver around. Being short the space where everyone could gather to work on homework or break bread, as well as wanting to gain a mudroom this home was tight on space, Meriwether suggested a modest 4 foot addition across the back of the home.

This addition helped in creating enough breathing room to position the table area between the family room and the kitchen. By reorienting the access to the family room the mudroom was located in what used to be closet and awkward diagonal steps down into the family room. The addition gave just enough room for a porch off of the back of the family room and additional access into the backyard from the kitchen. By pulling cabinetry away from the exterior wall large windows provide views of the backyard and another good reason to be table people. Silk screened lights from Galbraith & Paul and a custom tile mosaic by Waterworks behind the stove provide color. A message center between the windows at the table and the kitchen help keep the family organized.
