This second story addition totally transformed this one story home. The clients wanted a bit more breathing room along with a kitchen large enough for the family. However they did not want to give up the craftsman feel & details of the original. By using a traditional 1-1/2 story houses as inspiration all of the bedrooms were relocated upstairs, the family was given an additional bath. The former master bedroom is now the open stairwell to the upper floor. A salvaged craftsman cased opening with columns & bookcases opens the stairwell to the living area. The front door was relocated to a new covered front porch. Adding 4 feet to the kitchen created enough space for the family to all gather in the kitchen at the same time.
