Central Ohio Room Addition

A key aspect of this project was merging an existing room addition with the new room structure. One way that was accomplished was through a new covered porch and entrance. Also, by chosing to replicate architectural focals from the existing home, the design of the addition suddenly brought the entire house together as one designed entity. To completely incorporate the new addition, the old siding was removed and a new exterior facade was added.

To assist in a more cohesive home design, the homeowners decided to strip the house of its previous exterior cladding and intall new siding and window trim.

The home already had a room with a similar window wall. The homeowners decided the new room addition should have similar characteristics to create a consistancy in the design.

Although the basement design was not in our scope of work, the stairwell was. Following the same flooring down the stairs creates unity which is needed due to the open stairwell.

The laundry room is the access point from the existing home to the new room addition. This meant the space needed to be a functional laundry room while maintaining a clear path of egress.

Aging in place bathrooms include wider doorways, wheelchair accessible counter heights, and "roll-in" showers. This particular shower has a small lip but has a moveable bench for easy access.
