Chaden Contemporary Remodel
This small house, built in West Los Angeles in the 1950’s, was remodeled and furnished for a retired couple whose primary residence is in North Carolina. The interior was refreshed with furnishings that have clean lines and the stylish look of mid-century modern furniture and lighting.
The newly renovated kitchen highlights custom made cobalt blue and white tiles hand made in Morocco. The rift oak cabinets were wire brushed then painted white, with aged brass edge pulls installed for easy opening. The walls were painted a custom matte white from Benjamin Moore which visually expands the kitchen, adding a light, airy ambiance to this space.
The primary bathroom tiles were custom made in New Mexico, capturing the mid-century vibe the homeowners were seeking. The vanities are lightly stained, wire brushed rift oak. Pull out drawers at the bottom of each cabinet add room for lots of storage. Large new windows offer views of lush trees and foliage outside. The fluted sconces, recessed LED lighting, and tall framed mirrors allow even more light to pour into this beautiful bathroom.
The dresser and end tables in the primary bedroom are finished in ivory lacquered grasscloth. The curved edges are reminiscent of an old ocean liner! A color palette of teals and soft golds was chosen for the bedding, furniture, and draperies. Antique brass wall sconces on either side of the bed free up space on the end tables.
