Cherokee Road

This kitchen was a case study in mid-century modern design. The house was designed and built in the 50's in the classic modern style. The current homeowners' criteria: don't change the floor plan, keep it consistent with mid-century modern ideals, keep it "green". Baltic birch plywood was an obvious choice for material. We mixed up the sizes of the drawer and door fronts and we didn't stain them. Instead, we embraced the color variation found naturally in the plywood. Mortised pulls are consistent with the time period and so are the integrated finger pulls in the upper cabinet doors. Cork flooring was the greenest flooring material available at the time. 8 years later, this kitchen is still relevant - an advantage to sticking to a design aesthetic that has already stood the test of time.
