Cherry Brook Residence

Jack and Holly had a modern vision for their “forever home” – a completely new aesthetic for a semi-retired couple who’d always resided in a very traditional home on the East Coast. Their new home needed to be a comfortable backdrop for a lifetime of travel and art collections, open plan, conducive to an indoor-outdoor lifestyle, considerate of accessibility and aging in place, and environmentally conscious while adhering to the warm, modern aesthetic. The design takes into consideration the constrained hillside location and rugged environment by using durable, fire resistant materials that help the single level home blend into the landscape and its eclectic neighborhood. A large, cantilevering steel trellis, in addition to deep overhangs, creates ample shade on the harshest exposures and provides a wonderful entertainment area that takes advantage of the distant ocean, island, and mountain views.
