City House
BCV Architects combined two apartments in a modern condominium in San Francisco’s historic Jackson Square, creating a quintessential urban townhome for a family of four.
The apartment features a main salon showcasing dramatic cityscape views. The salon is the social center of the home, serving as living room, music room, dining room and gallery for the family’s evolving collection of photographs. Opening off this room is a skylit kitchen, featuring contrasting Wenge cabinetry and Carrara marble countertops. An elegant breakfast alcove completes the room. On the other side of the salon is the library, painted persimmon orange and providing a strong contrast to the subdued whites and silvers of the salon. The main hall of the apartment is a long linear art gallery, featuring both three dimensional objects and works on paper. Each bedroom and bathroom was customized to reflect the personality of each individual family member.
