COCOA BEACH Polynesian / Contemporary

AD&D designed this house with a local developer in 2007. The clients wanted a contemporary/modern style home with a Polynesian blue tile curved roof. They also wanted a unique staircase. This is one trick roof! It has four pitch breaks and the rear of the house is curved, which causes the ridge line to slope. We've never encountered a sloping ridgeline anywhere else in all our years of home design. The staircase starts near the front door and curves to the right, almost 180 deg. before it curves back to the left where it comes off the wall to float into the curved 2nd floor hall which also flows into the curve of the back wall. The look is amazing. It's one clean flowing motion beginning at he bottom of the stairs all the way around. This house has water views literally from every window. The house was featured in Spaces Magazine (Sept/Oct 2009 Issue) and won a local award in the HBCA Home Show. Many thanks to Gary Meyer at Central Florida Truss for all of his insight into this extremely complex roof design.
