1920 home had the fireplace in center of room to heat the house but made furniture placement and passage through the room from the front door ridiculously limiting. The fireplace was removed as well as chimney to open up the wall space and a radiant heat gas fireplace was installed into the corner where it could vent through the outside wall. Custom tile work and a large piece of fir salvaged from the beach finished off the look.
