The 1948 original redwood bungalow underwent a two-year remodeling project to create a streamlined beach cottage that has all the comforts and sophistication of the 21st century.

The house sits between an enclosed courtyard and a dramatic cliff top ocean view. In order to retain the charm of an older beach house Sheldon used the contrast of smooth glossy ceilings reminiscent of a sail boat with sand-blasted craftsmanship and modern silhouetted molding.

The living room basically functions as the front room of a cottage and contains comfortable seating on “rope” rugs. Despite the angled brick wall in the family room (part of the original bungalow), Sheldon created a colorful and cozy seating arrangement on the off-white thick pile shag rug in front of the fireplace.
