This guest bathroom in Durham is an elegant edition to an already beautiful home. One of the few remaining spaces in the house that had not yet been renovated, it was in need of more storage, better finishes, and a more open spacious feel. Serving as both a family hall bathroom and a guest bathroom the space needed to be multi-functional. The custom glass enclosure with specially designed wall cut-out on the plumbing wall create a much more open, light-filled space than the original closed in tub with shower curtain.
The double glass doors allow easy access for turning on the water, without getting wet, and create a wide open space for entry into the tub. The tiled bench and storage niche in the tub area provide great storage space and the new custom cabinetry with mirrored doors help add to the open feel. A custom drawer with hidden outlet is a great place to store a hair dryer, off the counter but easily accessible and ready to go at any time. The open shelf cabinet near the door features open storage space for towels as well as an attached towel bar for even more towel storage.
The softly curving sconces and client’s hand-painted vintage mirror finish off the space beautifully. With soft grays and blues accented by the white cabinetry and trim, and brushed nickel fittings, this bathroom is a lovely mix of traditional and transitional elements, mirroring the homeowner’s styling throughout the rest of the home.
