Cool Contemporary Durham Kitchen

With great storage space on the kitchen side of the Island and cabinet space as you come down the stairs, this contemporary-style kitchen in Durham is full of features to help the homeowners stay organized. With small children in the house, functionality is key and not only does this kitchen provide just that, the kids absolutely love the central island.

By opening the space to the adjoining TV room and improving the access to the back deck, the family has a space perfect for any occasion. The windows can be opened to allow food to be pass directly through to friends and family on the deck and a leaning-height bar is just outside the window for setting down food and drinks. Whether entertaining, watching TV, or preparing the family meal, everyone can be involved.

The light wood floors and white quartz counter top are a wonderful contrast to the dark flat panel cabinets. Strategically arranged lighting both under the cabinets and in the ceiling creates a clean, bright, all over light that is perfect for any kitchen task. Light blue walls, stainless steel appliances and a multi-tonal blue and green glass backsplash give this space a soothing, cool, yet inviting feel. As an added bonus, a special area in the kitchen was created just for the homeowners’ free-standing kegerator!
