The master bath in this Union Township NJ home had not been renovated since it was built in the early 1980s. The owners felt it was time to bring the bathroom into the 21st century. The objective of the renovation was to create a bathroom with classic finishes and a clean aesthetic. The clients wanted to make the bathroom more usable and feel more spacious. Among their desires were more storage, better lighting and a larger walk in shower. The shower in the original space was tiny and the busy couple with two young children never used the large jetted soaking tub that monopolized most of the bathroom’s square footage. Since the children’s bathroom already featured a bathtub, the owners agreed to a design where the soaker tub would be eliminated and it’s former location transformed into a large, sunlit, walk-in shower enclosure. Since the couple had tired of sharing the room’s single small vanity, the original shower wall was removed to let in natural light and to provide space for separate “his and hers” vanities. After eliminating the shower wall and soaker tub the renovated bathroom is light, airy and feels much larger and is better suited for the owner’s needs. Finishes in the bathroom include painted maple vanities in White Icing from Yorktowne and Salinas White granite on the counters as well as the shower’s seat, curb, jamb and half wall. Brilliance Brushed Nickel from Brizo’s Baliza series adorn the vanity faucets and handheld and rainhead inside the shower. The floor outside the shower is tiled with Cancos Navajo Savannah Cream and the interior of the shower is tiled in Cancos Neostone Venato in a 4 x 12 on the walls and 2 x 2 mosaic on the shower floor.
