Custom Gas Fire Features | Poolside Fire Bowls & Linear Fire Table
Fire is what keeps a backyard in use after the sun goes down. On this project, Action Home Services designed and installed two distinct gas fire features that extend the season and give the space a focal point from every angle.
A pair of square, tapered fire bowls sit directly on the flamed granite coping wall at the edge of the pool, finished in matte charcoal and filled with polished black fire glass. The geometry is deliberate: sharp, low, and repeated, so the two bowls read as one composition rather than two accessories. At dusk the flame doubles in the water, and the dark cedar hedge behind them makes the light do all the work.
Installation is where these projects are won or lost. Gas lines were run and pressure-tested below the hardscape before the coping went down, so there are no exposed runs and no surface penetrations after the fact. Burner pans were set level and dry-fitted to the bowls, with accessible shut-off valves and igniters positioned out of sight at the back of the wall. All gas work was completed to Ontario code by licensed technicians.
In the sheltered lounge area, a long linear fire table anchors the seating. The trough is finished in a soft speckled concrete with a wide ledge on both sides, wide enough to set a drink down, and filled with rounded river pebbles in warm greys and taupes. The low ribbon of flame runs almost the full length of the table, throwing even heat across the sectional instead of concentrating it in one spot. Framed by the glass railing, string lighting, and the cedar backdrop, it turns the lounge into the room the family actually uses at night.
Real usable warmth from April through October. No wood to haul, no smoke, no ash, and no cleanup. Instant on and off. Materials chosen to handle Ontario freeze-thaw without cracking or spalling, and burners that can be shut down and covered for winter in minutes. Both features tie into the existing gas service, so there are no tanks to swap or store.
