"Daily" Kitchen
This 1950's kitchen was ready for a remodel. The budget was really tight, so we sanded down & painted existing cabinets, which were structurally in good shape. The right side of the kitchen was a mismatch of a cabinet moved from the other side to accommodate a dishwasher & a stove & refrigerator pushed together. We started by removing the upper cabinets & built shelves from reclaimed wood. Then we built a pull-out trash cabinet that houses 2 trash cans, 1 for recycling. We faced the cabinet with reclaimed wood from old fencing. Then we built 2 open cabinets on each side of the range for baskets filled with spices and other cooking necessities.
Client really loved the feel of reclaimed wood so it was used all throughout the kitchen including the peninsula. Old sink was replaced with new sleek stainless sink and faucet. Wood countertops were custom stain I created with warm brown and cooler grays for a modern feel. Floors were laid throughout kitchen dining room and entry.
The kitchen transformed into a modern space the client loves and will last another 60 years.
