Deaven Road kitchen expansion

This family of six loved that their home was the gathering place for their children’s friends and teammates but found that the kitchen couldn’t comfortably accommodate their growing number of guests. To best suit their needs, we added a 16’ x 20′ addition with a sliding glass door and skylights that provided more space and natural light. One of the Homeowner’s had Lasik surgery years prior that left her with issues absorbing light into her eyes normally. So in order to allow ample as natural light into this space, we added several large skylights on a flat roof. We had the restriction of needing to use a flat roof in order to stay below the existing 2nd story windows above.
This addition allowed us to give them the expansive kitchen that they desired. The introduction of an island and peninsula provided ample seating and much needed storage space. The transformation of an unused closet into a butler’s pantry allows quick access to snacks, beverages, and small appliances. Relocating the refrigerator eliminated the accessibility issues they had prior It had been against the doorway to the closet which limited full access into the refrigerator. Additionally, while it was open it blocked the walkway so others could not pass by. We were able to make the first floor feel more cohesive by installed new Luxury Vinyl flooring throughout, replacing multiple different floors that broke up the space undesirably. Upon completion, the homeowners were thrilled with their new kitchen remarking, “We are sooo happy with the kitchen! Everyone who has seen it is amazed at what you have done.”
