The kitchen in this Deforest home was built in the basement as part of the original house plan. Beckman Builders was called in to help update the old tired layout. It had a tile floor with a poorly designed transition to the wood floor which caused a tripping hazard. Beckman Builders relocated the appliances and raised the new tile to eliminate the tripping hazard. They also added a breakfast bar, laminate countertops with a new drop-in Kohler sink, and replaced the patio door to the backyard. The cabinets were extended to the ceiling, which added more storage without compromising additional space. Moreover, Beckman Builders was even able to design and build this Deforest kitchen around existing ductwork (drop soffit), keeping the overall cost down.
