Dining rooms are where dimmable lights come into their own. Creating an atmosphere is key.
A dimmed, diffused pendant hung just above head height over a dining table will light the table perfectly and light guests softly. Depending on the size of the room, wall lights may also be a nice option if additional light is needed. For drinks, wall washing uplights or downlights on a feature wall will create a nice effect.
When lighting a room that you will be doing a mix of entertaining and relaxing in, you need to be particularly aware of glare both when standing and sitting.
