This rooftop garden in the Edgewater neighborhood of Chicago was long and fairly narrow, so we built a boardwalk the length of it to connect the outdoor kitchen to the lounge area. Decorative pebbles beneath the boardwalk lend the feel of a pier over shallow water, and the deck lighting along it's length provides a soft glow beneath. At night, the rooftop takes on the feel of a nightclub, with spotlights accentuating materials, plants and furnishings.
