This modest garage rooftop had many challenging factors - neighboring buildings, power lines, oppressive alley lamps - so some major screening was required. We used simple 1x1 clear cedar slats within a cedar framing system to provide a cool, Zen feel which succeeded in blocking out the worst intrusions while allowing light and air to move freely. Night lighting is particularly dramatic, and turns this little spot into a vivid display of textures and patterns after dark.
