2011 Contractor of the Year Award Winner - Residential Kitchen Over $120,000

Lori Jolin Design was brought into their clients home to update the kitchen. The original island wasn't conducive to conversation, and the appliances were outdated. Our clients requested a traditional white kitchen, and LJD pushed the boundaries by adding many small details and unexpected design decisions, like black cabinetry. In the end, the clients were excited to have a distinctive, yet more transitional, kitchen with simple elegance.

Tall cabinet doors replaced outdated soffits, while the lit glass displays and recessed lighting make the room feel even bigger. Crown molding was added to enhance the look of grandness. The refrigerator/freezer and pantry were enclosed in millwork to look like furniture, which adds to the grandeur and elegance of the space. A large awning window was painted black to mimic the refrigerator design details.

The kitchen design carried over to the dining room, where the wall separating the two was removed and opened to visually connect the two. The black trim and countertop enhances the view into the kitchen while tying in the black detailing.
