Exit Birch Forest Enter Waterwise Garden

This front yard was a grouping of mature birch trees underplanted with azaleas, and a thick carpet of ivy. That thirsty bunch was replaced with a waterwise habitat garden.

To make the compacted soil ready for the new garden life, we tested it for biological activity, and did a thorough job of soil remediation based on the soil report findings.

This garden now provides year-round visual interest for the owners, the neighboring resident humans, and an inviting habitat for the butterflies and birds that also live in the neighborhood. We vastly reduced the water use and created a beautiful landscape!

Birch Forest to Waterwise Garden
Gone are the high water use birch trees and lawn that separated the driveway from the walkway! Instead, we now have a low water use, ocean friendly- watershed garden. It attracts birds, butterflies, and passersby to partake of its beauty!
