Faye and Walker Architecture: Pine House
Featured recently in Dwell Magazine, Pine House by Sean Guess of Faye & Walker Architecture is a family-friendly home that explores notions of lifestyle and creature comforts while simultaneously pushing the limits of a Modern aesthetic within a tightly constrained site. On one hand, the home has been designed from the inside out, with a remarkable focus on how the inhabitants use the space, incorporating an open plan and numerous built-ins, benches and cubbyholes thoughtfully and ergonomically placed. On the other hand, the design is a rigorous study of formal elements: the iconic house form, exposed structure, the interplay of solid and void, scale and proportion, form and rhythm. Similarly the finishes are both playful and restrained, consistent throughout yet investigating the boundaries of materiality: poured-in-place concrete, heavy-grain plywood, Cor-Ten steel, subway tile, Carrera marble and stainless steel appliances. This home is truly a living work of art. 3 BD, 2-1/2 BA, 2,060 SF.
