Form Meets Function

The new kitchen for this multi-generational family never feels crowded, thanks to its well laid-out floor plan. The design creates multiple work areas, excellent traffic flow, and optimal use of the space. This, combined with the nine-foot ceiling and two over-sized windows, forms an expansive dream kitchen for both cooking and entertaining.

The many highlights of this kitchen include stacked wall cabinets with glass doors on the upper sections for display, and a large larder cabinet with retracting pocket doors to house small appliances. A beautiful furniture-style hutch with a centered, beadboard-backed bookcase provides additional storage and display space. A pair of islands are another focal point of the space. One island provides a useful work area with a secondary sink across from the range, while the other is a perfect gathering spot and features a Sub-Zero wine refrigerator and seating for four.

The cabinets are Brookhaven I by Wood-Mode, with the Edgemont Recessed door and matching drawerhead. The perimeter cabinets are finished in Nordic White paint on maple, while the two islands are in quarter sawn white oak with Matte Twilight stain finish. The interior of the larder cabinet is also finished in Matte Twilight on white oak, creating yet another unique design feature. The perimeter countertops are a black polished granite, and the islands are topped in Red Dragon granite for a striking punch of color. Large tiles of Porcelanosa's Rodano Acera create the backsplash, matching the kitchen floor.

The appliances - generous in size and function - are Wolf and Sub-Zero, and include a 48" range, 54" stainless steel hood, 42" French door refrigerator, and 24" wine refrigerator.
