Fourth Collection: Landscapes

I was inspired by various trips. One in New Mexico where I loved the warm tones and round shapes of the houses and hills. Another trip, to Vietnam, years ago. A third one, in France. Yet all these paintings are very whimsical and instead of trying to represent the reality, I'm painting a mental image of a beautiful landscape.

When I go back to Paris, the whole town always seems to have a festive atmosphere: people have a late afternoon drink at the café terraces, the department stores show beautiful vitrines, the Eiffel Tower...

Journey Through the Forest, 30 x 30 in - Paintings

I was inspired by French artist Le Douanier Rousseau who painted luxuriant jungles and eccentric animals, as well as lovers in nature. The couple in "Journey Through the Forest" is surrounded by a green landscape. Green is the color of hope and regeneration.

This painting had a first layer made by kids in my studio. They created a very colorful garden. Then I added more layers, trying to keep some of this first layer, so that it will show in the big flowers.

It's a big lake, The water is a symbol of life and is actually making all the leaves fly, and the trees become alive. There is peace.

The Fresh Market, 12 x 24 x 3 in deep - Paintings

This is a farmers market in New Mexico (you can see the New Mexican homes in the far distance). The fruits here have become almost like trees, they are so big, their colors are vivid and they almost seem alive. They were freshly cut!
