French Connection
The goal for this project was to update and expand a small, non-functional kitchen into a larger multi-purpose area ideal for cooking, dining, and entertaining. It was essential that the design incorporate the client’s love of fine cooking by providing easy access to often-used utensils, state of the art appliances, and additional counter and storage space. The client was inspired by the French countryside and it was important to incorporate her own antique collectibles.
About the result:
The design resulted in a stylistic blend of gourmet sensibility and rustic beauty. The La Cornue range area became a warm and casual corner of the kitchen by incorporating a custom built wood paneled hood, fleur-de-lis motif, and natural stone tiled back splash. This kitchen, further updated with inconspicuous recessed lighting, also utilizes the ambient glow from the chandelier. Multiple stains and finish applications are used to resemble furnishings which have been collected over time.
