The goal of this home remodel was to transform it into an upbeat, transitional colonial with attention paid to practical layout that would work for the family - including four children and three dogs. A new space plan was made for the kitchen - including removing a partition wall between the kitchen and family rooms and creating a wider doorway between the dining room and kitchen to open up the space. The narrow side counter was removed and a wide island with storage and seating for six was built in the center of the room. Built-in office space was updated to custom-made storage cubbies for the kids – complete with hooks, drawers, outlets and docking stations. Old cabinetry was replaced with custom-made recessed panel cabinets. A new lighting plan was created to accentuate the new open floor plan. The kitchen floor and downstairs carpets were replaced with faux wood ceramic tile – fantastic for high traffic areas and easy to keep clean (4 kids, 3 dogs)! Warm colonial grays and whites were incorporated through paint, cabinetry, mottled granite countertops, tile backsplash and an extruded tile fireplace wall (in the family room). The oil rubbed bronze finish picked for drawer pulls and lighting fixtures adds to the colonial feel. Throughout the home paint and floors were updated and some new fixtures were selected.

This renovation was a great experience for our team and our client was so happy with the finished product! After getting settled, they stopped by with a note that read: “Dear HHII team, Thank you all so much for all you did to make our new house a beautiful home. We were so lucky to have your talents, industriousness, and kindness on our side.
