Kevin had wanted to join two large timbers together with a "Japanese scarf joint" and he managed exactly that in this home -- it's visible above the fireplace mantle, complete with bubinga wood bowties. Iron balusters for the stairwell are "let" into the circle-sawn white oak floor without flaw--a bit of craftsmanship of which we're still very proud to this day.
