Hancock Park Project

This Hancock Park project for a fun, bold, and creative family has been one of my favorites. The owner and I seem to be able to get on the same wavelength and her sense of adventure, love of color and whimsey made my job fun!

This room was built around the red secretary which belonged to owner's grandmother and is loved by the owner. It takes a prominent position. The neutral drapery calms the room and provides privacy from the street. The beautiful arches still show through the drapes.

The family room upholstered pieces are covered with a pet and child-friendly fabric that is really soft and plush and very easy to clean and maintain. The different color design for this room provides a space for relaxing. The travertine floor allows for dogs, kids, and spills.

Master bath repeats all shade of aqua with hints even in the cabinetry. A hint of glam is brought out in the crystal light fixtures while a touch of whimsey can be found in the "dog inspired" shades.

The aqua tile is a mix of Asian Statuary Marble and aqua colored ceramic tile. The Venetian style mirrors add class and glamour.

The Arabesque (Moroccan influenced) shaped tiles are perfect for creating an illusion of water in the bath area. Abby painted a black etagere to a silver so that it fit in with the other bath elements.

Abby's signature design accent in kitchens is to keep the overall kitchen neutral but add color to the island and inside the glass door cabinets. This technique adds significant interest and allows the eye to focus on the central features of the kitchen.

The dramatic citron yellow cabinetry in the owner's home office is custom made by Architexture. It plays off the turquoise walls and fucshia sofa to create it's own space. By leaving the cabinets backless it allows the turquoise to act as an accent.

What a wonderful place for imagination to flourish. The colors and patterns create vibrancy and excitement. The boldness is matched by the fanciful accents in the birdcate light fixture, the Alice in Wonderland mirror, the light from the inside lamp and the fuzzy ottoman!
