The original home was a nice 50's modern design with the overhanging glass living room and modest bedrooms with views of both San Francisco and Mt. Tamalpais. Our clients commissioned us to renovate the existing house as well as add additional bedrooms, guest unit, garage, and living space for a family of 5. As the clients had multiple visions for the project, it was an exercise in melding his clean minimalism with her desire for more traditional materials in a modernist context. The final design is an interesting juxtaposition of complimentary forms and materials.
