Historic Haverhill
This historic Georgian home in Haverhill had seen a few bad bathroom and kitchen renovations over the years, which took away from the charm of the original structure. Mat Cummings and team designed a tasteful new kitchen with custom, hand planed cabinetry, soapstone sink, and maple island top, that was reminiscent of the age the home was built. Matt Diana Housewright's cabinetry and built-ins have many period appropriate details- like rat tail hinges on the doors, flooring made from original ceiling boards, and reusing existing Georgian doors from the property in new spaces. The new mudroom and pantry make excellent storage space the homeowner desperately needed. There are new bathrooms and bedrooms on the second floor, but the team was careful to preserve and expose the structural posts and beams to keep the historic feel of the space. The end result is a project with updated conveniences in plumbing and kitchen space, that fits the fabric of the rest of the home.
