Homestead Development

The Homestead Development is a modern development located on a 100-year-old homestead. Our goal was to create a comfortable farmstead-aesthetic to match the history of the development that included a swimming pool, entry monument and water feature. The developer wanted to save money so a separate water feature was out of the question—however, our solution was to combine the entry monument signage and a water feature into one. Our design utilized the exterior wall of pool area as a substrate for the subdivision’s signage, and forced water over its face into a catch basin below. The pool itself is straight-forward and worked well with the Homeowner’s Association. The pool is kidney bean shaped and the design is more about circulation and flow around the space, while matching the site’s set-backs. In line with the site’s history, the pool house resembles an old farm building and houses pool equipment and a restroom.
