Riverside Infinity - Kansas City
This compact site located north of Kansas City had a great view of the downtown skyline. We knew that we were limited on the size of pool but conveniently, our empty-nester clients desired more of a lounge pool that matched their lot. The clients' objectives were to clear the view of the downtown skyline and create an comfortable space suitable for casual dinners and relaxing. We capitalized on the steep grade changes by designing an infinity edge--however, we needed to balance the placement of the pool with the location of trees on the property as well as considering the height of the infinity edge wall.
The ideal placement of the pool, not too far out of grade and not encroaching on existing trees, resulted in the pool being 2/3 out of grade. We focused on the structural nature of this project as well as the clean design. Removing certain trees allowed us to open the view to skyline. While preserving other trees made construction access more difficult, keeping the trees maintained the woodsy feel of this residential property. Our design included an entry pool, perfect for sunning in a Ledge Lounger. The pool deck is a mix of low-maintenance--composite decking is featured on the boardwalk outside the pool and porcelain pavers cover the rest of the space. A manufactured spa, chosen for cost and comfort, is nestled onto the boardwalk near additional seating of chaise lounges.
