The challenge of redesigning the driveway and yard of this posh Westfield home was creating unique and usable spaces that are kept separate from the parking area. A long and low natural stone seat wall with LED under lighting snakes through the rear yard, dividing up the patio into seating and dining portions. The installation of a custom fiberglass pergola adds height to the design while tastefully matching, but not overshadowing, the details on the fabulous house. Plantings were used to screen the property for privacy and to soften the hard edges of the seat wall. Splashes of seasonal color also were added to the pea gravel fire pit area and the dining patio to increase the visual interest of the spaces. This classic backyard redesign not only is an aesthetic upgrade, it also utilizes thoughtfully designed spatial programming so the space can be used more intelligently and efficiently.
