Island Road
The initial design inspiration in this home came from the warm oranges, reds, and yellows in the movie Indochine (1992) based in 1930-50. As the project progressed, the homeowners desired to keep the cream walls and floors, so I used inspiration from vintage mid century films such as The Patsy (1964), where color is strong and kept to the furnishings. The homeowners had a love of elegance, art deco, antiques, and Hmong culture hence the gold, black, warm woods, and ethnic influences. Can't you just see Marlene Dietrich or Hedy Lamarr flowing down the curved stairs in a sumptuous gown? Susan Gilmore Photography
