The initial design inspiration in this home came from the warm oranges, reds, and yellows in the movie Indochine (1992) based in 1930-50. As the project progressed, the homeowners desired to keep the cream walls and floors, so I used inspiration from vintage mid century films such as The Patsy (1964), where color is strong and kept to the furnishings. The homeowners had a love of elegance, art deco, antiques, and Hmong culture hence the gold, black, warm woods, and ethnic influences.
