Our clients came to us with a desire to create a studio space for an increasingly important hobby for one of them. We soon found out that an art studio as a separate structure would only be allowed if it was in a garage. So we set out to design a wonderful garage that could also be used as an Art Studio. Our Resident Artist works with metal, so it was fitting that we all agreed on working with a fantastic metalworker in York, PA: Salvaging Creativity, for the decorative Corten panels on the front facade, plus the custom garage doors and the fun metal and colored Polygal canopies. Creating privacy plus a safe work-space was crucial, so the clerestory windows provide the necessary daylighting plus a connection to the trees and sky outside. We like to say that it feels like a little temple dedicated to art creation!
