Complete main level overhaul and home remodel, including windows, fireplace, flooring, stairway, library lounge, living room, formal dining room, breakfast nook, kitchen and bathroom. This growing family wanted a modern comfortable transformation for the home and location they love. Their fondness for entertaining and having friends visit is what set the design goal to be bright, open and clean.
Needing a floor material that stands up to dog paws and children playing, plus have a warm feel, the homeowner opted for real wood. The new hand scraped hardwood flooring is richly hued and family-friendly. It is a stunning contrast to the white trim work and custom hand made cabinets, and is a durable surface for all the remodeled rooms on the main floor.
The modern kitchen now has a stylish look, with real carrara honed marble countertops, a honed black granite island top, and timeless subway tile back splash. The extra-long island allows for food prep, artful displays, and is the social hub of the kitchen.
Skillful pops of color and texture make the kitchen and great room flow effortlessly through the formal dining room, library, and back to the fireplace, where its stone is hugged between new windows and built in cabinetry. Finally, the powder bath has a curved furniture style vanity and bright, eclectic wallpaper.
The talented home owner supplied items to reflect personal style, such as the colorful wall paper, modern light fixtures, furniture and decorations.
Details of materials used:
Custom hand made cabinetry painted in Benjamin Moore White Dove, Elkay Bridge faucet, Kohler Whitehaven apron sink, Restoration Hardware island pendants and Asbury cabinet hardware, and Virginia Vintage hand scraped hickory wood floor in Carriage finish. Appliances are GE Café, Broan Elite, Sharp and Danby. All wall colors are Benjamin Moore Pewter, except the formal dining room, which is Edgecomb Gray.
