For this project, Latady Design was called to transform the kitchen in this turn-of-the-century house from a narrow galley into a spacious environment for cooking and entertaining. Several existing walls were knocked down in order to increase the amount of natural light entering the space and improve the circulation through the home. An island in the center of the room doubles as a both a work surface and breakfast bar, where family and guests can congregate and become a part of the cooking preparations. A wrap-around bench seat provides a separate, more formal eating area yet still maintains a close connection to the working kitchen.
