New construction of a 5,000 sf weekend/summer home in the Lake of the Ozarks. The house, while traditional in look, has a modern layout to allow for both small and large gatherings. Primary design intent was to maximize natural light and ventilation by creating a long, narrow house parallel to the waterfront. To breakdown the mass of the house, covered walkways run along both the entry and waterfront sides, also providing good coverage from the weather. The house includes a Master Suite "cabin" that is separated from the rest of the house by a double height living room and stone fireplace. A loft library, above the entry and overlooking the living room, provides a cozy nook and additional sleeping area. The screened porch off the living room provides protected outdoor space from bugs, etc. and includes a fireplace for cool evenings. There is also a Playroom complete with pool table, shuffle board and movie watching for those rainy and winter days.
