A good project always has a starting place in mind and in this case the client did not like the dark, hand scraped flooring. We wanted to eliminate the fact that the sun was showing everything from dirt to scratches; so we upgraded to a rustic cottage look with medium colour textured wide wood planks that would still compliment the dark kitchen cabinets since they were not being replaced. From there I aimed to create unity and flow by connecting the entry way, feature dining wall and fireplace with recurring features of multi coloured slate and stacked stone. Lots of solid wood furniture and iron bronze fixtures/accessories were brought in to suit the rustic style we were going for. We finished off everything by bringing an airy look to the master bedroom with a custom fabric headboard, port hole inspired mirrors and many beach adornments.
