Landscape Design Berwyn, PA

At this property in Berwyn, PA a new landscape was designed for the entire area surrounding the house. After adding an addition to their home many of the areas around the house were left bare from the construction project. This was a great opportunity to redesign the landscape and improve the walkways and add a backyard patio.
The front got a new 4’ wide bluestone, curvilinear walkway to replace an old stepping stone path to the front door. The expanded width of the new walkway gives greater emphasis to the front entry, while the curves enhance the yard. Next, a completely new front landscape was planted replacing an obsolete ‘builder’s planting’. On one end we built a low timber retaining wall to replace a failing concrete block wall.
Along the driveway understory shrubs were planted underneath mature White Pines providing greater visual interest and screening from the street.
On the other side of the house a screening planting was created that also provides different seasons of interest from the interior office. The rear of the house received an irregular flagstone patio and connecting walkway to the driveway, accented by bluestone steps. A mature cut leaf Japanese Maple was saved prior to construction of their addition and now graces the patio walkway area. Additional shrubs, perennials and bulbs complete the new Montgomery County landscape environment.
