This project was a bit unique because it required that we build the kitchen island counter top in two pieces and fit the top together on site around a structural post. The top was actually built at the shop and finished with tung oil before being disassembled and brought to the site. Using biscuit joinery and clamps we put the top together on site to get around the structural posts. We also built matching tops for a separate portion of the kitchen. All counter tops are 1 1/2" thick maple, wide plank tops finished with tung oil.
