Light Cherry Rope Traditional

Although this is a large expensive house, the original cabinets were the standard light oak with white tile countertops. These were replaced with fancy cherry colored cabinets with a rope design, and granite countertops with a granite full splash on the cooktop wall. The original island had a cooktop with a pop up vent which did not work well. The cooktop was moved to the exterior wall with a custom hood built to allow for better venting. The refrigerator was relocated to be on the stacked oven wall. This allowed for more countertop space on both sides of the new cooktop location. The original deep garden windows came down to the countertop which made the countertop go too far back to reach for cleaning. The new windows were installed six inches above the countertop to allow for a backsplash which contains the countertop water. The cooktop and sink were bumped out with fluted columns (which also appear on the island legs and either side of the refrigerator).
