Let's go back to school--but there are no tests or projects here--and learn about the basic types of lighting. Ambient lighting is the most common variety and is also sometimes called general lighting. It's used as the main source of lighting in a room, though it should not be the only source! Here are some examples of each type of ambient lighting: ceiling flush mounts, ceiling semi-flush mounts, chandeliers, entry lights and ceiling fans with light kits.
