This memorial cabinet was made for Michelle Malletta. When she passed away from cancer, much too young, her family asked me to create a small box to store her ashes. In talking to them, I sensed they wanted more than a storage box. I found beautiful pottery urns and then incorporated a memorial area in the front of the cabinet, accessed by opening a pair of doors. The memorial contains a tiny sketchbook Michelle kept while traveling in Europe for a year along with a wire photo stand of Michelle's. The family can move the photo stand in and out of the cabinet, change the photo from time to time, changes pages in the sketchbook, open the cabinet during the day, close it at night, whatever they choose but all to keep Michelle close in their memories.
