Miami Beach Mediterranean I

Presenting a stunning, contemporary Mediterranean home built in 1934 for the Hoover Vacuum Cleaner family. This home is an architectural gem. The residence is very spacious with rooms facing the Indian Creek Waterway. The owner has a beautiful collection of furniture and accessories she has selected while travelling the world. It consists of 6 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms, a total of 4,996 square feet.

This large courtyard opens up to the sky. Small orange trees and jasmine bushes create a wonderful scent. You can hear the gurgling sound of water in the fountain made of "China blue" and "Cobalt blue" mosaics.

As you walk into the foyer an original signed Tiffany lamp greets you. In one of the corners is a family heirloom, a Grandfather clock.

In the staircase we see the original 1934 rod iron railing. An antique Syrian camel head dress decorates the wall of the solid cement staircase. Notice the architectural detail of the opening arched hallway leading into the library.

This sun porch serves as an inviting and informal gathering place. The four Lucite chairs are vintage mid century modern upholstered in light blue and white. Displayed on the shelves in the arch are more personal collectables.

In the formal dinning room we see a vintage French provincial hand carved table and chairs upholstered in an off-white damask. The "Fortuni" chandelier adds a whimsical touch to the otherwise traditional room. Over the buffet is an original painting of Puerto Rico by the Venezuelan artist, Peressol.

The Chinoiserie credenza in the dinning room is by "Theodore and Alexander". The two large blue and white Chinese vases add interest to the room.

In the soft blue and white master bedroom we have a hand carved "Christopher Guy" king size bed. The mahogany dresser and matching high boy are American antique pieces. The Victorian furniture upholstered in white is a family heirloom.

The guest bedroom is furnished with Puerto Rican handmade solid mahogany pieces that belonged to the owner's parents.

In the upstairs very wide hallway we find a very 10 feet long white lacquered Chinese piece.

The kitchen was remodeled to include the original design of the butlers pantry. All cabinets are white lacquer and the counters are white Carrera marble.
