Modern 5th Avenue Duplex

The owners of this Olympic Tower two story penthouse wanted to return to the same pied-à-terre except with two new bathrooms, one new bedroom, and a new show stopping wine refrigerator.
A major challenge was finding space to safely store and display a large number of wine bottles. The solution was to hide them in plain sight as an entrance sculpture piece. The wine refrigerator is made from ‘glass on a switch’. When the switch is on, current runs through the glass in an opaque white pattern mimicking the Ipanema sidewalks in Rio, Brazil. When the switch is turned off, the glass becomes clear and the wine bottles are visible – up to 294 of them held in a custom case of the same pattern.
