Modern Makeover

This home got a modern facelift, taking advantage of the unique architecture and the incredible views. The main priority was to open up the old, dated kitchen to the living/dining/entryway, so walls had to come down! The new kitchen is in natural maple, a perfect fit for the home and site, but the white quartz counters and sink give a sleek, clean touch. The new peninsula created a great eat-in area and the whole kitchen now has great sight lines to the rest of the house. Storage was improved with the custom appliance garages and built-in pantries. The main feature, however, is the blue glass tile backsplash. This fun pop of color brings so much personality to the space, and is just the right amount of modern whimsy to anchor the kitchen.
The master suite also got an upgrade, by combining the previously tiny bathroom and closet into one large bathroom. The closet space was moved into the bedroom, and the long, narrow space was opened up to create room for both a soaking tub and a walk-in shower. The centerpiece here is the custom floating vanity, a true work of art made by a local craftsman. The soaking tub anchors one end of the room, while the curbless shower with custom glass enclosure anchors the other. The shower has integrated storage ledges and stylish grab bars, making it a place of both safety and function. The gray tile on the floor transitions to the glossy white on the walls, so the texture and color is balanced throughout the room.
In addition, the main living and dining area got rid of the old textured ceiling in place of a new smooth ceiling and updated lighting. The entryway got a gorgeous ceiling fan and french doors were added between the living room and the den/family space
