This home in south Livermore was all original and was over 30 years old. The kitchen, dining and family room was sectioned off and had 8-foot ceilings. The ceilings were vaulted and accented with distressed oak beams and trusses. European white oak flooring throughout, the focal point of the kitchen is a 10-foot island with seating for 5, Calacatta Gold marble counter with iron pendants, and a solar-powered skylight. The goal was to open the space to one large room and maximize the view of the hills. The shaker style kitchen cabinets are in a warm marshmallow creamy finish, and the island is accented in a rich brown, with hardware and plumbing fixtures are matte black, with the island accented in brushed gold. A built-in desk area was added where the water heater and closet used to be. The wet bar has metal mesh cabinet doors that are lit with LED dimmable lighting. All three sets of French doors are iron and can be opened to make the house feel like part of the outdoor space.
